Red Lentil Sliders

Masoor dal is an integral part of a vegetarian diet, it is basically the split lentil without the skin exposing it’s orange color.Masoor contains 26% protein, and have the 3rd highest protein content by weight amoun the plant-based proteins ( after soy bean and hemp)

When we were growing up the name for these ‘red’ lentils was ‘ Quick Dhal’ , it was the Dhal you’d cook when time was a factor!My kids think these are magic beans – from red lentils they change color to yellow Dhal 🤣

And they still live up to their name … these patties are easy , quick and delicious!

For your patties :

  • 1 cup red lentil ( soaked for at least 30 – 35 mins)
  • 1 inch of ginger (roughly chopped)
  • 4 cloves of garlic (roughly chopped)
  • 1 cup flat leaf parsley /coriander leaves – i used a combination
  • 1/2 cup chana flour and rice flour OR almond flour OR whole cashew nuts OR bread crumbs
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder – optional
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder ( flakes or fresh also work)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • Crushed black pepper powder
  • Juice of 1lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
