Diya’s , magaj and family.
Ok , so that’s the precie version.
Diwali conjures only the best , funnest memories of our childhood… it was The festival of the year. Still to this day each of our homes (my folks , sisters and I ) are bright , colorful and filled with delicious treats !
Over the last few years as the kids are able to be apart of the festivities… it’s been so much more fun . Almost reliving our days in Durban and Trevini.
There are so many aspects to love about Diwali …. From the new clothes , The lighting of our lamps , the morning prayer and the special traditions food and otherwise, decorating the house and cooking up a storm.
With all the things I want to achieve for the celebration , I am definately going to start a month earlier. To say the least it was a grand dash and late nights towards the finshline to get my vision for this year out.
Yes…I have a vision on the things I like to include for Diwali – the look and feel. It is truly a celebration like no other in our calendar.
Living in South Africa we have a large Indian community so upkeeping these family traditions were easy when were kids, now living away from home one has to make a bit more effort to source all the right ingredients, but I feel its an integral part of keeping our culture alive. My kids are still quite young and its so delightful to teach them about Hindu festivals.
For 2021 , I’d like to to share in advance so you too can join in the festivities! From the treats , the cooking , decorations and kids activities.
It’s magical and you will be part of it!
