Beans sprouts…until recently they were items in the salad section that I’d think to purchase to pop into a salad or the occasional stir fry. Now I sprout … .
.
There are loads of health benefits from improving digestion , blood circulation to decreasing acidity and more . Sprouting is easy and inexpensive and pretty cool when they start germinating!! .
.
How To Sprout?
Wash and Soak your chosen legume overnight.
The next day rinse legumes , and place in a dampened cloth / breathable fabric ( like a muslin) place the cloth in a wide dish giving the legumes space. Tuck your legumes in this damp cloth and keep in a warm place.
The smaller beans are done within a day , bigger ones can take up to 3 days . Check that your cloth is still slightly damp each day .
This method is easy for me , there are other ways to sprout too using a special sprouting dish or in a mason jar .
I think the most important points are to allow your legumes to soak overnight allowing them to swell and then thereafter keeping them in the damp cloth in the right position ( your pantry or oven are good options)
Pictured is moong sprouts . Give it a try . I experimented a few cooked recipe ideas – will share in separate posts ( they not a salad or stir fry )
